Meteor meteoR

GEORGE TOWN: Malaysians will be able to sight up to a total of 100 Perseid meteors per hour streaking across the northern sky in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Astronomy Atmospheric Science Unit lecturer Assoc Prof Dr Chong Hon Yew said that according to the International Meteor Organisation (IMO). the meteor shower is expected to be best viewed from 1.30am to 4am on Thursday.

“The shower could have started on July 24 and is expected to be observed until Aug 17.

“It is however predicted that during the peak viewing time (Thursday morning), the moon will be high in the sky, outshining the fainter meteors.

“There is a good chance for observers to spot the brighter meteors however,” he said on Wednesday.

Dr Chong also hoped the weather would be favourable for the Perseids to be seen.

Those who miss tomorrow’s meteor shower may still catch a “lesser version” after midnight Thursday, or early Friday morning.

Dr Chong said the Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle which are usually fast, bright and occasionally leave persistent trains.

“The point they come from lies in the constellation of Perseus,” he said.

The Perseid meteor shower has been observed for about 2,000 years, with the first known sighting coming from the Far East.

Every year in August, the Earth passes through rock and dust fragments left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle. As these small particles collide with the Earth’s atmosphere, they burn up, often creating a startling streak of light across the sky.

The shower is visible from mid-July each year, with the greatest activity between Aug 8 and Aug 14, peaking at about Aug 12.

Dr Chong said the meteor shower can be observed with the naked eye.

MIRI: Firefighters from Sabah and Labuan have arrived here to help the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department deal with forest and peat fires that are burning up more than a thousand hectares of land near the Sarawak-Brunei border.

Some 50 firefighters arrived yesterday and dozens more are expected to arrive soon.
About 170 firefighters from the Miri Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence, the Miri Port Authority and volunteer firefighters are already on the ground battling the fires.
The reinforcements will provide much needed help in dealing with the fires, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam.


Other areas in the state, Samarahan (148), Miri (140), Sarikei (133), Kuching (105) , and Sri Aman (108) also recorded unhealthy air quality.

A check at the Meteorological Department website also showed that nearly the whole of Sabah and Sarawak had being been classified as “extreme” for its Fire Danger Rating system.

Weeeety went to McD .. to have RM5.95 ~ ( Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Labour Day,Wesak Day.... EVERYDAY !! )

Yeap , so then .. had my lunch while had some readings .. planned to spend my afternoon there .. as i got nth to do at home ..

I met Ronald there .. and we chit chatted for awhile .. and continued on with our own 'reading session' ..






AND DEN ..... ~~~ !!!






a SILLY CRAZY BASTARD MANIAC ASSHOLE appeared and sat next to me .. but i was inside and he's outside .. I was sitting by the glass wall .. and guess wad ?? the crazy monster showed me his dick .. omg .. WAD DA HELL ?!!
I wasn't quite sure at first .. so i didn't really bother bout it .. but after a few times of seeing him trying to get my attention .... DAMN .. and so i changed my seat .. and sit face to face wid Ronald .. and celaka .. the man actually stood up and went to somewhere which i could see him .. and he then walked to his car .. lowered down the window and sat at the passenger seat in front .. he wrote smth on a piece of paper .. and tried to show me .. but i couldn't really read the words .. Luckily i met Ronald .. it's really the luckiest thing that have happened to me at this moment .. so Ronald accompanied me home .... and ..

That's basically wad has happened today .. I felt great .. really great .. many things are running in my mind now .. I feel so glad .. so lucky .. It's amazing .. I just got to say today is really amazing ..
It seems like someone .. something .. is guiding and protecting me .. not only today .. but all these while .. It's really the best thing to have bumped into Ronald at McD .. when that incident happened .. I couldn't imagine wad's gonna happen if i were alone just now .. how am i going to go home ?? and also .. I felt so good to have this quite-short-conversation with the father .. which actually reminded me of the direction that i was supposed to go to .. and lead me to the right path .. It might be the only chance in my life to talk to this uncle .. But i'm really gonna bear his words in mind for good .. Listening to uncle makes me feel so 'homey' .. I'm like listening to daddy .. Perhaps it's another amazing thing that happened to me cause He knew it's father's day .. and this lil daughter actually misses his dadee muchie muchie here ? =)
